Uterine fibroids & myomas affect fertility. An effective approach

A recent research confirms women in reproductive age group are affected with uterine fibroids in 10-15%. Such women develop painful menstrual cycles and profuse bleeding during the cycles. The ethnic (genetic) origin plays a significant role and women in Indian sub continent have higher incidences. Women affected with such ailments suffer from conception. It can affects implantation, causes recurrent miscarriages and recurrences are higher following surgical removal.

When they undergo multiple surgery or extensive removal of fibroids, it can result in thinning of endometrium, reduced blood flow to the uterus, adhesions and infections. In some situations to achieve motherhood, they were advised rented mother (surrogacy) as an option.

She explains uterine walls are divided in 3 layers. Outer, middle (myometrium) and inner (endometrium) layers. Fibroids (less than 4 cms) originating from outer and middle layer do not affect embryo implantation and can be treated without surgery. Fibroids from inner layer basis the location and size, decision of surgery is made. She recommends surgical interventions only in extreme conditions. Hence she handles such difficult and complicated cases with only Laparascopy hysteroscopy in order to preserve fertility and quick recovery of surgery.
