Sexual life is an important part of a couple's foundation and marital relationship. It acts as a stabilizer or base for human existence. Sexual problems are very common in the current society even though it seems to be a taboo.

Defining sexual dysfunction:

The term defines itself. Sexual dysfunction can be widely defined as the inability to have satisfactory sexual intercourse. It can be judged from the sex partner either the intercourse was satisfactory or not. Sexual dysfunction is one of the popular issues that affect relationship very badly. Sexual dysfunction can be a symptom of any other medical or psychological issue. So, the problem should be taken seriously as it affects the life of individuals.

Sexual dysfunction causes problems during any face of the sexual response cycle. This will prevent the individual or couple from experiencing a satisfactory sexual activity. The sexual response cycle has four phases, namely:

  • Excitement
  • Plateau
  • Orgasm and
  • Resolution

The duration of the phases has a range and varies among individuals and among the genders. Even among the same individual the duration changes over time. This is where a sexual consultant plays a key role, identifies the problem and provide a solution. When any of these get obstructed or not able to experience, which can be considered to be a sexual dysfunction issue?
